Rewards
The film’s original inspiration was Ward’s Pond, a small kettle hole in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.Touching off from the natural energies of this constricted urban green space, the film underwent destructive physical processes involving bleach and boiling. The resulting debris of emulsion fluctuate between representational image and the physical presence of the film strip, whose battered surface, nevertheless, continues to evoke the natural decay endlessly taking place on the pond’s shores.

Move
Move depicts the surreal dream life of a young comatose man, and how it attempts to guide him to consciousness. Although he seems to be disconnected from life, his interior self echoes symbols of caring from the outer conscious world. Even after he appears to awaken, his imagination presents more ambiguity.

A young, artistic man experiences visions of a world that he once knew with sight. Having never fully come to terms with a boyhood train accident that left him blind, he encounters potent, surreal apparitions in both his waking life and his dreams. As his poetic imagination flourishes, he rediscovers sincerity.

Dream Filip
In this filmic portrait, artist Filip Olszewski dreams, dances, and dreams of dancing. He moves amongst sheer fabric, candlelight, smoke and makeshift altars to a cover of the song “Dream Weaver” (sung by the filmmaker). Inspired by Filip’s performance art, the video attempts to reconcile feelings of euphoria experienced when dancing with the pain of being earth-bound. The video and song are gifts of friendship.

Eyelash Wars
Eyelash Wars is a melodramatic, expanded fiction about the rivalry between two female entrepreneurs who battle for supremacy in the false eyelash business. They compete by putting on elaborate, bizarro window displays that in time, escalate in scale and symbolism. Townspeople come and go, playing bit parts in this haunting and surreal world. In addition to screening as a single-channel film, Eyelash Wars can be presented in conjunction with installation and performance components that extend the story beyond the boundaries of the screen.

Talking to my Mother is a 17 minute film about love, acceptance, and missed opportunities. It tells the story of a young man trapped in a culture clash where traditions stunt his quest for personal happiness. The film explores the complicated relationships between Michael, a second generation Chinese American man, his mother, Mrs. Yue and Julianne, his girlfriend of two years, to whom he plans to propose. After a twist of fate, Julianne accidentally discovers Michael’s secret. One that would change their lives forever.
